When I was 5, my mom gave me my first diary and was taught to write in it every night before going to sleep. To this day, I haven't stopped handwriting my personal thoughts, stories, and self-reflections in my journal.

This is a place for me to share what I find beautiful in my adventures, what makes me excited and passionate, and all the lessons I learn along the way.

April Moments

Fiona Yeung

It's been well over a month since my last blog post and all I can think about is how quickly time is flying by. In early April, I finished my third year of school in the YSDN design program which means that I will be graduating with my Bachelor of Design degree exactly a year from now, During the month of April, I was able to attend a few exciting and inspiring design events including the YSDN class of 2014 gradshow, as well as the annual FITC Toronto conference held last week.

YSDN Facets Gradshow 2014
The 2014 graduating class of YSDN had their gradshow at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District on April 21-23. Attending these gradshows always makes me feel proud of the program and in awe of how talented the designers in the program are. This year's gradshow had a slightly different effect on me compared to the past few years. I realized that I would be in their shoes exactly a year later, putting on my own gradshow for people to see. It was an exciting and crazy feeling to know that I've already completed three years of the YSDN program.

FITC Toronto 2014

The FITC Toronto annual conference is the intersection between Creative Technologists, Designers, Developers where we all gather to share, inspire, and to learn about design, creativity, and technology for three days. The tickets to the event can be quite costly for a student so that's why I've opted to volunteer instead that way I can help, but still attend the presentations as well. One of my all-time favourite designers Stefan Sagmeister was a speaker at the event this year and I couldn't have been more excited to meet him.

It's now one week into May as I'm finishing off this blog post. This month, (today to be exact) is the start of my exciting summer in California! As I type this in the Newark airport in New Jersey, I'm super excited to announce on my blog that I'll be a UX Design Intern at the Google HQ in Mountain View. I don't start until mid-May so far now, I am off to L.A for some sunshine and fun!
